Immediate Need: Mississippi Floods

Clarksdale, Mississippi and the surrounding areas (Coahoma and Quitman Counties) have been affected by the largest flooding in the area since 1890. More than 2,000 homes and numerous businesses were impacted.
First Presbyterian Church in Clarksdale has responded to the needs in their community by engaging in relief work and by hosting work teams to help with flood relief. There are a number of things to do including sheetrock work and mucking out/cleaning up. Sheetrock teams need not be comprised of experts. Rather, one person who knows how to hang and finish sheetrock can direct an entire team of volunteers. Another need is for qualified electricians and plumbers. Finally, the most important thing we can do is to show up to share God's love with those who are in the midst of this crisis.
If you are interested in mobilizing a team from your church to Mississippi, please register by clicking here. At this point in the registration process you will simply indicate your willingness to help. Dates and details will be finalized later. Registration is open to both groups from churches and individuals. There is no need to register as an individual if you are part of a group from a church. Housing will be provided at no cost in Clarksdale. More details may be provided upon request.

Please let me know if you plan to go so that I may refer individuals or smaller groups to you if you have room for additions to your team. My email is mkennamer@pcanet.org.

Most importantly, don't forget to pray for those impacted by this flooding and for those who are on the ground helping share God's mercy.
